
1939 – 1955 – Bethel Mennonite Church began in 1939 with a group of ten members that met in a small building in Mummasburg. Bethel’s first pastor, Abraham Landis, traveled from Ephrata, PA every two weeks to preach. Paul Lantz and Glen Musselman also served as pastors in this time. Highlights: the first VBS in 1943, the congregation growing.

1956 – 1972 – the congregation built a new church building on Biglerville Road in 1956. Pastors were Willis Breckbill, David Groh, John Rudy and Amos Shertzer.
1973-1990 – the congregation experienced growth in numbers with youth attending camps and participating in Bible quizzing. Pastors in this time were Bob Shreiner and Dennis Kuhns. The summer Bible school continued, and Bethel celebrated 50 years in 1989.

1991-2003 – Bethel continued to coordinate a yearly VBS along with other outreaches in the community. Pastors were Jim Burkholder, Ezra Tice and Al Guyer.
2004-2018 – For a number of these years, the church experienced a very active youth group that met weekly, grew in faith, and served on various mission trips from Pennsylvania to South Dakota. In 2017, a new leadership structure was adopted. Bob Murr served as pastor.
